I’d been looking forward to this event for quite some time, and it definitely did not disappoint! Margaret River HEART – Nala Bardip Mia (Our Story House) is a growing destination for many creatives, entertainers and businesses, and it was the perfect venue to host this event. It was impeccably organised with an army of volunteers everywhere you looked who were more than helpful, and readily available to assist with questions and directions – 10/10 to them all.

 

I didn’t get to see everyone due to the timetable and my availability (there are too many wineries to visit in Margs!) but I did get to see Emily Maguire, Hannah Kent and my favourite; Jane Caro – she is a hoot! She told me that she had a grandchild too, and she wrote in my book “Grandmother authors rock”. We chatted for a long time until I said I should leave when the people behind were getting annoyed – she had a laugh at that.

The Writers Room and Discovery Tent were also amazing, and the bushwalks looked awesome too, however there simply weren’t enough hours in the day! But what a great weekend coupled with the company of great friends along with delicious wine and food.

Would I attend next year? Absolutely! However I would be more organised next time and book Main Stage and workshops in advance. I was too late to book a spot for myself this year to talk about being a published author from WA, but perhaps next year – who knows?
